Assessments Third Graders take a variety of assessments throughout the year to measure growth and provide instructional planning strategies. Standardized tests include the IRIs, ISATs, and Direct Writing Assessment. Watch the calendar for specific dates. To prepare your child for best performance on these assessments, please make sure he or she gets a good night sleep and eats a healthy breakfast. Also, please remember that standardized tests only provide one view of your child, and that I believe in taking a well-rounded approach to assessments. Measuring growth in a child requires that we partner to look at a wide range of factors that include individual learning styles, goals, classroom performance, and individual growth. Please communicate with me if you have any special concerns or suggestions regarding classroom or state assessment practices.
