Teaching Philosophy | I teach, not only because I love children, but because I know that I have been called to guide, instruct, facilitate, and nurture learning in all children. I believe that every child deserves equal access to education regardless of learning style or unique circumstances. I believe that a well-managed classroom fosters a sense of democracy, empowerment, and opportunity. Children learn best when they feel safe and secure. I will provide this environment with everything in my power. Education should be student-centered and provide experiences that are meaningful, authentic, enriched, and relevant to real life. Learning should be measured and experienced on a spectrum. I want to provide and participate in this spectrum. | |

A Well-Managed Class has: Students who are deeply involved in their work. Clear expectations understood by all learners. Relatively little wasted time, confusion, or disruption. A climate that is democratic, work-oriented, relaxed, and pleasant. A structure that makes accommodations for different learning styles and student needs. Anchors in place to maximize learning opportunities. A partnership with parents, other teachers, specialists, administrators, and the community. |
